What if no one has read the section of text that you want to base your session on?

You could read it together aloud around the class, then do the activity.
If it's long you could assign pairs of students to read a couple of paragraphs/sections each and then ask them to summarise their part for the rest of the class.
Talking through difficult readings can be a good use of time in PASS.
