PREREQUISITE
MG6031 Instrumentation and Control 2
AIM
To enable students to predict and implement the desired behaviour of industrial control systems.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
On the successful completion of this course the student will be able to:
1. Model and evaluate the behaviour of simple industrial control systems.
2. Apply common analytical and design methods for control systems.
3. Evaluate the use of controller tuning methods to control systems, under varying load and set point conditions.
CONTENT
- System modelling and simulation.
- Transfer function and block diagram representation of systems.
- Determination of the time and frequency response of systems using Laplace Transform methods.
- The s-plane, poles & zero’s and associated absolute and relative stability.
- Root-Locus analysis and design.
